What is University View?

It’s a high-quality College Park apartment community designed especially with University of Maryland students in mind. U\View features a variety of spacious apartments plus a full set of community features such as two recently upgraded 24-hour fitness centers, yoga studio and indoor/outdoor circuit fitness, pool and sun deck, study rooms and game pods, all right next to the UMD campus with added shuttle bus service.

Is University View part of the University of Maryland?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at University View has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rate?

Each resident at University View pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • Internet
  • In-unit laundry
  • Utility allowance toward electricity, water and gas
  • Community features — fitness center, pool, shuttle, etc.

What size are the apartments?

The spacious accommodations at University View range from studio (509 square feet) through 2-bedroom (700 to 1,100 square feet) and 4-bedroom (1,125 to 1,425 square feet) floorplans, with both private bathrooms and walk-in closets available.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes. The furniture package at University View includes a full-size bed, dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, plus a sofa, coffee table, end table, 50″ HDTV and entertainment stand in each living room. The kitchen is also furnished with a dining table and chairs. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model residences.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 22, 2022 to July 28, 2023, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

After a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to secure their financial obligation in one of two ways: by providing a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) or by purchasing a third-party guaranty from our partner, Leap. In limited cases, we may also waive the requirement for a financial guaranty if a resident has sufficient income of their own.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. University View also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at University View?

Your living costs at University View can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at U\View. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is University View open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at University View are students at the University of Maryland, and the per-person contracts are designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, University View is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

University View has a monitored fire sprinkler system, electronic locks and individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrol officers are on-site as well. Management staff can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

University View is a no-pets community. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at University View?

University View offers optional paid parking in our attached parking garage or in surface lots right across the street. Limited guest parking is also available on a metered basis.

What other transportation options will I have?

University View is connected directly to the University of Maryland campus by footbridge, and is a short walk to Engineering, Computer Science and Environmental Science buildings. The community is also served by UMD shuttle buses, seven days a week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Shuttles stop right outside the front door, running to various campus stops every 10 minutes from 7:30am to 5:30pm weekdays, and from 10am to 5pm on weekends. Night shuttle service continues through 9:50pm Sunday through Thursday, and through 2:30am Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, U\View offers on-site ZipCars which are available for rent at any time.
